Meet our Sycamore House team

The Sycamore House is not just a home for children in need but a place where the love of God is poured into each child's life. Mark and Julie have created a family atmosphere for the children and they not only pour into the children under their care but also reach out to have a positive impact upon the community around them- from a community English class to leading mission groups to help rebuild homes of local people. When my husband and I stepped into Sycamore House to serve we felt as though we too were part of this special family where children laugh and play, ride bikes, eat at one big table, care for each other, practice reading and math and have lots of giggles.

As monthly supporters of Sycamore House, we have been continually impressed with the quality of care - physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual - that Mark, Julie and their highly qualified staff have provided for each of the girls who live at Sycamore House. We have personally seen the persistent and unconditional love for each child, the care and concern for the specific needs and struggles of each child, and the constant advocating for what each child needs to grow into a healthy and happy young adult and beyond. Seeing the joy on the girls' faces as they celebrate a new accomplishment - whether it's completing a simple math problem or riding a bike for the first time — as well as the passion that motivates Mark and Julie to continue this work to the best of their abilities day after day is what makes Sycamore House one of the most meaningful ministries that we support.

A home where love abounds, God is the center of all days' activities and smiles and hugs are given and received constantly describes Sycamore House of the Dominican Republic! Mark & Julie have created a home with a wonderful balance of love, faith, education, physical activity, and building relationships. Mark & Julie have also extended beyond the orphanage to bless the local community using their talents.The lives of the girls of Sycamore House are changing for the better each day.
